That was 2023… the best of the weddings!
The past year has brought some of the most wonderful weddings for me to photograph! It has been just such a joy to get to know another set of really lovely couples, and to travel around Devon, Somerset and Cornwall for a range of really beautiful weddings. I’ve been reducing the number of weddings I take on, to enable me to focus more on family photography. So there have been less weddings than usual, and this has made each one of them particularly special to photograph.
I’ve been back to regular favourite venues River Cottage, Burgh Island Hotel and Lympstone Manor, three particularly beautiful Devon wedding venues. There have been weddings in Devon homes, with marquees set up in gardens and the most relaxed of celebrations. It’s also been really exciting to visit a few places that I haven’t photographed before. Hestercombe Gardens was an absolute delight! A beautiful house extended garden in Somerset, with a stunning orangery for the wedding ceremony. I had a little elopement at Sandy Cove Hotel, with those incredible views across the North Devon sea. And I had the joy of travelling down to Cornwall for Jodie and Tim’s lovely day at the Fowey Harbour Hotel. Despite the persistent rain, it was just the loveliest day with such stunning views across the Fowey estuary.
Even though I only photograph a small number of weddings now, I still approach every individual day with the importance that it deserves. Probably more so, now that I just have a select number of weddings through the year. For all the nerves and excitement that I still get ahead of each wedding, it always just feels so right at the moment when I pick up the cameras and begin. Weddings continue to steal my heart, and it has been really fantastic to share so many beautiful celebrations this year. All my couples this year have been so incredibly lovely to work with. It has been such a huge pleasure getting to know you all, and your family and friends, and to share such momentous days with you all. I am so grateful to those who invite me to photograph such an important day in their lives. It is always such an enormous privilege. Thank you!
