Best Devon family photography: my 2020 round up
I always really love putting together a selection of my best Devon family photography images from the year. I think it’s safe to say that 2020 has been one that none of us will forget in a hurry. However, despite all the difficulty, there have been so many good things about this year. I’ve been able to keep photographing families across Devon and further afield, and that has been as much of a pleasure as ever. This year, my family photography has taken me all over! From the beach in Devon (always good!), to the woods and fields on the Somerset hills, the beautiful Wye Valley and more. I’ve seen couples become parents for the first time, photographed new babies arriving alongside older siblings, and enjoyed catching up with lots of my regular families as they grow that bit bigger.
One of the things that has really resonated for me in 2020, is family. The importance of that unit around you cannot be overstated. And when I talk about family, I mean that in whatever sense family is for you – your blood relations or your friends, your neighbours or your pets. There are many different versions of family, and these are all equally valid and worth celebrating. In a year where we have spent huge amounts of extra time with some of our family, and been unexpectedly isolated from others, it has been such an incredible pleasure to photograph some of those connections, with a whole new appreciation of how important they are.
I can’t wait for another year to begin, and hopefully a far more positive one for everyone. In the meantime, hold onto your family, your important people: hug them tight, send them a few extra kind words and cherish those connections that you have. Here are a few of my best Devon family photography images from across this year – I hope you enjoy them.
Sending much love to everyone out there!
