Louisa & Joe: a Christmas wedding on Dartmoor

A bride and groom with cape on Dartmoor

Hooray for Louisa and Joe’s Christmas wedding! Hooray for so many reasons – mostly because they had already had to postpone twice, so I was over the moon for them that they were finally able to get married. But also hooray for me, because I’ve photographed so few weddings this year, with most of my couples waiting until 2021. It was such a huge pleasure to photograph this beautiful day on Dartmoor!

Louisa and Joe had a small ceremony at St Mary’s church at Sampford Spiney, with views across the surrounding Dartmoor hills. Louisa grew up here, so it was particularly special for her to have the wedding in this church. The Christmas celebrations continued after the wedding with post-ceremony mince pies and mulled wine outside the church. This coincided (of course!) with the one heavy shower of the day, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! As soon as the beautiful sunshine returned, Louisa and Joe hopped into the back of the wedding landrover and took a newlywed drive over Dartmoor with champagne. Then everyone headed back to Tavistock for a celebratory meal and speeches at Taylors restaurant.

It was utterly wonderful to spend the day with them all, and to be finally able to photograph their wedding celebrations. They are just the loveliest couple and I couldn’t be happier for them both. Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Williams, and the warmest Christmas wishes to everyone else out there!
