Somerset marquee wedding: Natalie & Don
Natalie and Don had the most beautiful Somerset wedding day last September. I was particularly reminded of it, as they celebrated their first wedding anniversary last weekend, and I thought that it would be really lovely to look back at their day and put a blog post together.
I will try not to write too much, as the photographs tell the story so much better. But I absolutely loved the connection between Natalie and Don, and the shared sense of humour that was so wonderful to photograph. There was a huge amount of belly laughing throughout the day, including the point where Natalie arrived at the church without her bouquet and her dad had to hail a passing neighbour’s car and do an heroic dash home to retrieve it. And also, at the point where best man Andy fainted at the altar and had to be replaced by one of the ushers – the image of Natalie and Don laughing with him after signing the register still makes me crack a smile every time I see it.
To attempt to sum up the rest of it succinctly… this really was the most wonderful celebration, both incredibly warm and filled with joy, and also a particularly stylish and beautiful day. And so much of it was put together by friends and family, from all the gorgeous flowers arranged by Don’s mum Alison, to the beautiful signs, written by Natalie and her brother George. The piece de resistance had to be the incredible bar, created entirely by Natalie’s dad John, and I love the photo of him in the post below, leaning proudly on his creation (while Don gets working on it in the background!). Right from the very beginning of the day, this was just an enormous celebration, with endless friends and family pouring in and out of Natalie’s house during the preparations, and massive hugs and excitement all round, all day long. The speeches were hilarious, heartfelt, raucous and brilliant, and the partying was particularly impressive! The whole day was completely joyous to photograph and I loved everything about it. So apologies if there are rather a lot of images here, but I couldn’t help it. I hope you enjoy looking through them as much as I enjoyed photographing it!
