Best of 2019 wedding photography

I can’t quite believe it’s already the end of 2019. This year has flown by, but it has been utterly brilliant, and an absolute joy to carry out.

Putting this post together has made me so ridiculously proud. Because I’ve spent hours and hours, going through every single wedding I have photographed this year, and reliving each wonderful day as I’ve looked through all the images. And they have moved me to tears, and made me smile, and reaffirmed how much I love what I do. In the middle of the year, everything is busy and I’m moving constantly through editing and delivering each set of images. The end of year round up is often the first time that I go back and look at them all properly again, and so it has such a huge impact at this point. Each wedding day makes such an enormous impression on me. It’s hard to say how much I care about each of my couples without sounding completely OTT. But getting to know them, and watching and photographing the whole way through one of the most important days of their lives is such a big deal. And being so emotionally invested enables me to do my very best with their images each time. I know how important it is that you see that look on your parents’ faces, or that I catch the utter joy on people’s faces as they applaud your marriage, or photograph the emotion as you remember those special people who can’t be with you that day. I know how much you want to see a set of images that actually looks like that incredible wedding day you had, that captures all the feelings of it so perfectly, that shows how much you love each other and how delighted you are to be married. Which is why it is not unusual for me to end up in tears myself as I look through the end result of each wedding gallery, and why I really am so proud of these images here.

It has been such a huge pleasure to return to some of my very favourite venues this year: River Cottage, Huntsham Court and Maunsel House; to go back to lovely Pennard House and the magnificent Great Barn. And exciting to shoot for the first time at other places including beautiful Axnoller in Dorset, and the stunning Hauser & Wirth Gallery and Roth Bar & Grill in Bruton. I’ve loved capturing tipi weddings in back gardens and marquee weddings in rolling Devon countryside.  It has been amazing to be a part of some really varied weddings, from huge celebrations to tiny little intimate elopements. All of them have been such incredible stories, of the amazing people that come together to create a celebration of the love between two people. And I get to photograph that, to celebrate with couples, and to put together a set of images for each occasion that holds that memory forever. I’ve worked with so many absolutely incredible wedding suppliers this year – there is a huge team behind all of the images you see here, from florists to wedding planners; dress designers and make up artists, to caterers and bands – and a whole host of other people, all putting all their efforts into making each couple’s day just perfect. It’s a pretty bloody brilliant job that I have!

So, finally and most importantly, a huge thank you to all the couples that I have worked with this year. Thank you for asking to photograph your beautiful celebrations; thank you for putting your trust in me, on one of the most important days of your lives; thank you for all the amazing feedback and thanks you have given me this year, and thank you for helping take my business through another wonderful year. You are all amazing and I have loved all of it – bring on 2020, I can’t wait!
