Dartmoor wedding: Lily & Will’s amazing marquee party
Lily and Will had the most spectacular wedding celebration in the middle of Dartmoor recently. Chagford is one of the prettiest little towns on Dartmoor, and I’ve really loved photographing weddings in and around that area before. Lily and Will had their ceremony in the church there, before heading nearby to their marquee in a field, to celebrate in style. It was a beautiful location, with rolling Dartmoor hills in the background, and the marquee looked absolutely beautiful. Lily told me that her mum Nicky was doing all the flowers herself, and I literally couldn’t quite believe what she pulled off – the whole marquee looked absolutely astonishing, with beautiful long tables and gorgeous arrangements throughout.
Lily and Will themselves were just the loveliest couple to get to know. Just so completely easy going and relaxed, and as soon as I met them, I knew that their wedding day was going to be really brilliant to photograph. I was lucky enough to have the wonderful Sharron Gibson shooting with me as my second photographer, and we just had such a great time capturing the whole day together. From the preparations at Lily’s family home, to Will and the guests arriving at the pub in Chagford, it was great to photograph the build up to the lovely ceremony in the church there. Then the fun really started, with a relaxed drinks reception in the field, then some really emotional speeches in the marquee, before a fabulous extended wedding feast in the afternoon sunshine. I particularly loved the early evening part of the day, with guests all enjoying the evening sunshine and the fire pit outside the marquee, with the sun setting on the Devon hills around. And then there was the party..! Quite a spectacular dance floor and just so much fun to photograph! I’ll leave you to browse through the photographs, but some of my very favourite shots are right there at the end of this post. I thought I’d just pick out a handful of favourites from across the day for this preview blog post, but it turned out to be a bit longer than that… so, thank you lovely Lily and Will for your patience in waiting for this, and congratulations again on your brilliant wedding – we loved photographing it all and I’m so excited to share these previews with you both!
