A North Devon wedding at Tunnels Beaches, Ilfracombe: Hannah & Marek
“Thank you sooo much!!! We absolutely love the pictures. I’m so glad that we found you!”
On a showery day in August 2012, Hannah and Marek celebrated their wedding in Ilfracombe, North Devon. Tunnels Beaches is a particularly gorgeous spot to get married, with a private beach attached to the venue, the rather awesome access tunnels and if you are lucky, the most spectacular sunsets over the sea. I think we were rather lucky indeed that day – there were two of the most torrential showers, but the timing of them both was perfect (mid-morning, then later in the afternoon), and Hannah and Marek managed to pull off an outdoor ceremony in the glorious sunshine! Not only that, but we were treated to a truly lovely sunset at the end of the day, allowing the newlywed couple to spend some really special time together on the beach while I captured the moment for them.
There were many other amazing things about this wedding. Hannah and Marek got ready together in the morning – as Hannah said to me, it seemed almost a stranger idea to get ready separately. Marek had also helped Hannah to choose the beautiful wedding dress, so it was very much a team effort right the way through. I loved this quote from Hannah:
“The day was special to Marek and I in so many ways. I’m glad we spent the whole day together; getting ready, etc. We’ve been together for 5 years before getting married and we truly are best friends. I needed my best friend that morning leading up to the ceremony.”
Marek joined Hannah in the grooming process, having his hair slickly brylcreemed to fit with the 40s/50s. Hannah had the most elegant ‘up do’, and just looked absolutely beautiful. Hannah and Marek’s Cockerpoo, Wulfric, took a particular like to the pink bridal petticoat and made himself comfortable there while everything else was going on!
Hannah and Marek love dancing – in fact, when I did their engagement photographs at Woolacombe (here), they started dancing in the waves, which was particularly wonderful! So they surprised their guests by having the entire bridal party take it in turns to dance up the aisle – just brilliant :). Then they danced again at the end of the ceremony! The music for the day was carefully chosen by by the couple, with an amazing range of big band swing, jitterbug and Rock’n’Roll music from across the decades, creating the most wonderful atmosphere throughout the whole day.
It was a gorgeous, relaxed celebration, from start to finish, and I absolutely loved photographing it. I hope that you will enjoy sharing it too:
Hannah and Marek’s wedding was also published on Rock My Wedding, so take a look if you’d like to read more of Hannah’s words about the day: Rock My Wedding
It is such a pleasure to blog Anna and Iggy’s gorgeous Dartmoor wedding celebration. It was such a relaxed day, from Iggy and his groomsmen getting ready at Manaton, with the children playing in the barns, and Anna and bridesmaids walking up to the local hairdresser before getting ready back at Anna’s parent’s house. Meanwhile,…
This is just a tiny peek at Julie and Simon, just married and celebrating on the beach in Cornwall with their family. They had a wonderful, intimate ceremony in St Austell, with just a handful of close friends and family there. Then they headed to nearby Par Sands to spend a bit of time with…
I’ve had to be incredibly patient with this post, so I am utterly delighted to be finally writing it. I wanted to have it on the blog in the New Year, but I’ve been patiently hanging on for the new website to be ready, so that I could start with something really big. So, at…
In October this year, Rhiannon and James got married at the beautiful seaside wedding venue, Tunnels Beaches at Ilfracombe. It was a gorgeous day, with the soft, autumn sunshine making everything look particularly pretty and allowing us all to enjoy an outdoor ceremony! I loved all the little touches that Rhiannon and James had organised…
When Christine originally got in touch with me and told me she was planning a woodland wedding, I was so excited. I’m not sure there are many things more beautiful than dappled light through trees, so the idea of having a woodland wedding in this sort of setting had me on board from the outset….
I’ve photographed weddings at the Tithe Barn, Symondsbury before, and it’s a venue that I really love. Symondsbury is a gorgeous estate, with lots of different and equally beautiful properties around the village. The barn is such a fabulous wedding venue, with pretty gardens and light streaming through the ceiling windows. Just the perfect setting…
