A North Devon wedding at Tunnels Beaches, Ilfracombe: Hannah & Marek
“Thank you sooo much!!! We absolutely love the pictures. I’m so glad that we found you!”
On a showery day in August 2012, Hannah and Marek celebrated their wedding in Ilfracombe, North Devon. Tunnels Beaches is a particularly gorgeous spot to get married, with a private beach attached to the venue, the rather awesome access tunnels and if you are lucky, the most spectacular sunsets over the sea. I think we were rather lucky indeed that day – there were two of the most torrential showers, but the timing of them both was perfect (mid-morning, then later in the afternoon), and Hannah and Marek managed to pull off an outdoor ceremony in the glorious sunshine! Not only that, but we were treated to a truly lovely sunset at the end of the day, allowing the newlywed couple to spend some really special time together on the beach while I captured the moment for them.
There were many other amazing things about this wedding. Hannah and Marek got ready together in the morning – as Hannah said to me, it seemed almost a stranger idea to get ready separately. Marek had also helped Hannah to choose the beautiful wedding dress, so it was very much a team effort right the way through. I loved this quote from Hannah:
“The day was special to Marek and I in so many ways. I’m glad we spent the whole day together; getting ready, etc. We’ve been together for 5 years before getting married and we truly are best friends. I needed my best friend that morning leading up to the ceremony.”
Marek joined Hannah in the grooming process, having his hair slickly brylcreemed to fit with the 40s/50s. Hannah had the most elegant ‘up do’, and just looked absolutely beautiful. Hannah and Marek’s Cockerpoo, Wulfric, took a particular like to the pink bridal petticoat and made himself comfortable there while everything else was going on!
Hannah and Marek love dancing – in fact, when I did their engagement photographs at Woolacombe (here), they started dancing in the waves, which was particularly wonderful! So they surprised their guests by having the entire bridal party take it in turns to dance up the aisle – just brilliant :). Then they danced again at the end of the ceremony! The music for the day was carefully chosen by by the couple, with an amazing range of big band swing, jitterbug and Rock’n’Roll music from across the decades, creating the most wonderful atmosphere throughout the whole day.
It was a gorgeous, relaxed celebration, from start to finish, and I absolutely loved photographing it. I hope that you will enjoy sharing it too:
Hannah and Marek’s wedding was also published on Rock My Wedding, so take a look if you’d like to read more of Hannah’s words about the day: Rock My Wedding
Mid morning martinis and a relaxed ceremony filled with laughter… it doesn’t get much better than that! Harry and Peter’s elopement wedding in Exeter was such delight to photograph! They had just a handful of special people there to celebrate with them, and chose my short wedding coverage for a few hours on Saturday morning….
Huge congratulations to the lovely Lydia and Pete, who had their wedding at Froginwell Vineyard in Exeter yesterday. I photographed a wedding at Froginwell Vineyard several years ago and loved it, but I was really delighted to see how much further the venue has been developed since then. The focus on the outdoor space is…
It’s one of the very best things about weddings: the utter explosion of joy that comes with them. And it’s definitely one of the things that I love photographing the most on each wedding day. There is something truly wonderful about human emotions, and the way that our faces express how we feel. Every wedding…
Just over a week ago, I photographed Natasha and Danny’s incredible wedding in North Devon. They had their celebrations in a marquee on Natasha’s family farm, overlooking the countryside and North Devon coastline. I can’t begin to describe how fantastic it all was! It poured with rain for most of the day, Tasha and Danny…
The sign said “Eat, drink and be married” and it was exactly what Kate and Kathryn did. Plus, they laughed a lot, which was particularly wonderful. With each other, with their friends and family around them, the day was packed full of smiles, and I loved being a part of it. Kate and Kathryn chose…
Laura and Andrew had the most beautiful wedding celebration at Cadhay Manor in Devon. I’m not sure I have ever seen quite so many smiles in one day, nor a couple so clearly besotted with each other – it was absolutely wonderful to capture. Cadhay is one of my favourite wedding venues to shoot at….
