A North Devon wedding at Tunnels Beaches, Ilfracombe: Hannah & Marek
“Thank you sooo much!!! We absolutely love the pictures. I’m so glad that we found you!”
On a showery day in August 2012, Hannah and Marek celebrated their wedding in Ilfracombe, North Devon. Tunnels Beaches is a particularly gorgeous spot to get married, with a private beach attached to the venue, the rather awesome access tunnels and if you are lucky, the most spectacular sunsets over the sea. I think we were rather lucky indeed that day – there were two of the most torrential showers, but the timing of them both was perfect (mid-morning, then later in the afternoon), and Hannah and Marek managed to pull off an outdoor ceremony in the glorious sunshine! Not only that, but we were treated to a truly lovely sunset at the end of the day, allowing the newlywed couple to spend some really special time together on the beach while I captured the moment for them.
There were many other amazing things about this wedding. Hannah and Marek got ready together in the morning – as Hannah said to me, it seemed almost a stranger idea to get ready separately. Marek had also helped Hannah to choose the beautiful wedding dress, so it was very much a team effort right the way through. I loved this quote from Hannah:
“The day was special to Marek and I in so many ways. I’m glad we spent the whole day together; getting ready, etc. We’ve been together for 5 years before getting married and we truly are best friends. I needed my best friend that morning leading up to the ceremony.”
Marek joined Hannah in the grooming process, having his hair slickly brylcreemed to fit with the 40s/50s. Hannah had the most elegant ‘up do’, and just looked absolutely beautiful. Hannah and Marek’s Cockerpoo, Wulfric, took a particular like to the pink bridal petticoat and made himself comfortable there while everything else was going on!
Hannah and Marek love dancing – in fact, when I did their engagement photographs at Woolacombe (here), they started dancing in the waves, which was particularly wonderful! So they surprised their guests by having the entire bridal party take it in turns to dance up the aisle – just brilliant :). Then they danced again at the end of the ceremony! The music for the day was carefully chosen by by the couple, with an amazing range of big band swing, jitterbug and Rock’n’Roll music from across the decades, creating the most wonderful atmosphere throughout the whole day.
It was a gorgeous, relaxed celebration, from start to finish, and I absolutely loved photographing it. I hope that you will enjoy sharing it too:
Hannah and Marek’s wedding was also published on Rock My Wedding, so take a look if you’d like to read more of Hannah’s words about the day: Rock My Wedding
This incredible humanist wedding was such a wonderful day to be a part of. Vicky and Cosimo wanted their wedding day to be as personal as possible, and reflect them as a couple and what getting married meant to them. This turned out to be one of the most special ceremonies I have been privileged enough…
I’ve photographed weddings at the Tithe Barn, Symondsbury before, and it’s a venue that I really love. Symondsbury is a gorgeous estate, with lots of different and equally beautiful properties around the village. The barn is such a fabulous wedding venue, with pretty gardens and light streaming through the ceiling windows. Just the perfect setting…
It has been a particularly busy few weeks of shooting, and I’m slowly catching up with things at the editing end. I have several really gorgeous weddings that I haven’t shared yet, and I can’t wait to work my way through all of these images. Here is a little look at Krishna and Phil’s incredibly…
Emer and Adam celebrated in style at The Oak Barn, Hittisleigh, in Devon. Headwear was compulsory, with guests wearing a fantastic variety of decoration, including antlers, a party hat, a sombrero and a fez. It was a wonderful, fun-filled day, and I loved the big white balloons decorating the venue, inside and out. Emer…
It has been such a pleasure getting to know lovely Emma and Kieran in the lead up to their wedding, and it was absolutely wonderful to finally photograph the amazing day itself. They chose the Great Barn in Devon for their wedding celebrations, and it was fantastic for me to return there, as it’s a…
Polhawn Fort in Cornwall is a venue where I always really enjoy photographing – I absolutely love the contrast between the bright blue sea and skies outside, and the beautiful dark interior of the old fort. It’s always a really interesting place to photograph a wedding, so I was delighted when Maria first got in touch. We chatted on…
